An online event on Good Governance and Youth Public Participation – Webinar via Webex, May 28, 2021

A hybrid-mode meeting was held in the morning today, “A LOOK AT THE FUTURE. YOUNG EUROPEAN CITIZENS BETWEEN POLITICAL PARTICIPATION AND GOOD LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA,” organized by AICCRE FVG with the support of ISIG – Institute of International Sociology of Gorizia.

The event aimed to raise awareness of the issues of public participation and Good Local Governance practices among young European citizens by Alina Tatarenko – Head of the Competence Center for Good Governance of the Council of Europe, Ramona Velea – Deputy Director of ISIG, and Mariano Zufferli and Claudia Pollano, respectively Mayor and Councilor with responsibility for EU Networks and Projects of the Municipality of San Pietro al Natisone.

In fact, speakers at the event focused on promoting Good Governance through the Council of Europe’s ELoGE (European Governance Seal of Excellence) Program, implemented in the region by AICCRE FVG in early 2021, and now in its full implementation phase. In particular, the event featured valuable testimony from representatives of the Municipality of San Pietro al Natisone, a former winner of the Europe for Citizens Call for Proposals in 2020, who presented their experience of the ELoGE Program within their municipality.

The speech by Prof. Alberta Pettoello – Headmaster of the Paolo Diacono National Boarding School was significant, who recounted the experience of the 84 students who, among other things, followed with extreme dedication and participation the informative course “Bando Scuole: L’Europa che vorrei”, organized by AICCRE FVG last March.

The webinar also featured Carla Rey – Secretary General AICCRE Italy and Chair of the ELoGE FVG National Evaluation Platform and Franco Iacop – FVG Regional Councilor and member of the Congress of Local Authorities of the Council of Europe.
