ISIG in Belgium for SETO Consortium Meeting: between project recommendations, social impact and Living Labs

From July 2-4, ISIG participated in the Consortium Meeting of the SETO European project, which took place between the Belgian cities of Ieper and Ghent. Three intense days of discussion, planning and exchange with the consortium’s international partners.

During the meeting, ISIG took an active part in the discussion of future developments of the project recommendations. Who do we want to address with the results of SETO? Which components are the most mature, ready to become concrete recommendations in policy and science? And which, on the other hand, still need attention and discussion to reach their full potential? Together with the other partners, we have also asked ourselves about the most effective ways to engage the project’s end recipients so that the proposed solutions can find real and shared application.

ISIG also presented updates related to Task 4.2, dedicated to analyzing the social impact of the technologies developed by SETO. In particular, we focused on the possibilities of fostering a voluntary adherence of transport companies to the project’s digital platform. A concrete opportunity for in-depth analysis presented itself in Belgium, thanks to an interview conducted at the headquarters of SITRA, a company specializing in food transportation, with which we explored opportunities and challenges related to the adoption of the platform.

Finally, we documented the latest developments at SETO’s Belgian Living Lab, active in Ghent, where monitoring and data collection technologies are being tested in a multimodal mobility context, ranging from road to river transport. A valuable field experience to evaluate the effectiveness of design solutions in a complex and dynamic environment.

Many thanks to ZF-Transics for their hospitality and allowing us to learn more about their work, and to UWL for guiding us through the Living Lab visit.
