ELoGE public restitution: two meetings in Lajatico and Capannoli for more participatory governance

On October 20 and 21, 2025, two public meetings were held in the municipalities of Lajatico and Capannoli dedicated to returning the results of the ELoGE Italy program. In the presence of the mayor of Capannoli, Arianna Cecchini, and the mayor of Lajatico, Fabio Tedeschi, both protagonists of the 2024-25 edition of ELoGE, the administrations presented the results obtained and shared future plans with the communities. On the evening of October 20, in Lajatico, the meeting took place in the setting of the municipal theater, with the participation of councilors, citizens and townspeople. The seminar, conducted by ISIG, facilitated an open discussion on the themes of transparency, participation and public trust, cornerstones of good governance. On Oct. 21, in Capannoli, the event was held with the presence of about one hundred male and female students from the area’s middle schools, with a view to sensitizing new generations to the value of “democratic governance of all and sundry.” Both initiatives emphasized the self-assessment process carried out by the administrations, the use of questionnaires and surveys aimed at citizens, and the concrete commitment to implementing the 12 principles of good democratic governance that characterize ELoGE. In these two communities, public restitution marked an important moment to strengthen institutional dialogue and promote a shared vision of the future: from administrative transparency to citizen involvement to training young people as protagonists of change. The shared action between the two municipalities and ISIG underscores how the European label of excellence in local governance is not just a recognition, but an opportunity to initiate cycles of concrete, participatory growth.
