On September 22 and 23, we had the pleasure of hosting at our Gorizia headquarters the partners of PREVENT, the Horizon Europe project working to tackle childhood obesity and related health risks.
The consortium’s annual meeting was held entirely in-person, providing an opportunity to strengthen collaboration among partners and define the next steps toward launching the pilot phase.
A meeting to take stock and look at next steps
During the plenary, partners from different European countries gathered to:
- Review the progress of the project;
- Share updates and plan future activities;
- coordinate the launch of the pilot implementation phase, which will soon begin in the three countries involved-Greece, Sweden and Catalonia (Spain).
A key moment of alignment to ensure a coherent and integrated pathway among the various pilots and to consolidate the scientific and operational quality of the project.
A roundtable discussion with regional stakeholders
The second day was devoted to a panel discussion entitled:
“Health, Nutrition and Schools: Local Experiences and European Perspectives.”
A valuable opportunity to foster dialogue between local initiatives and European dynamics, with three main objectives:
- Share the results and lessons learned from the PREVENT pre-pilot phase;
- To present the initiatives already active in schools in Friuli Venezia Giulia in the area of prevention and health promotion;
- Build possible synergies with the project’s European actions.
A constructive discussion with key actors in the area
We were pleased to welcome and engage some of the key regional players involved in health promotion:
- Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia – Central Directorate of Health, Social Policy and Disability; Central Directorate of Labor, Training, Education and Family
- IRCCS Burlo Garofalo
- Azienda Sanitaria Friuli Occidentale – Pordenone
- University of Udine
Their input enriched the discussion, building bridges between territorial practices and European strategies for childhood obesity prevention.
A great team effort
We would like to thank all partners and stakeholders for their collaboration, commitment and the value of their contributions.
Together we are building stronger connections between local and European perspectives, with the common goal of promoting healthier lifestyles and a better future for children and families.
