On Dec. 3, ISIG was present in Caorle, for the workshop “The Future of Bicycle Mobility in the Eastern Veneto Area,” the Institute brought its contribution to a lively, participatory and vision-rich discussion on the topic of bicycle tourism, territory and innovation.
The meeting was part of the European project SUMMA – Sustainable Multimodal Mobility in Adriatic Coastal and Hinterland Areas, funded by the Interreg VI-A Italy-Croatia 2021-2027 Program. The organization, curated by the Municipality of Caorle with the support of ATVO, the Order of Architects PPC Venice and the College of Surveyors of Venice, brought together architects, technicians and professionals who work every day to rethink cities and make them more accessible and sustainable.
During the plenary, we launched a live mini-survey to capture in real time perceptions, habits, and expectations related to cycling tourism in the relationship between coast and hinterland. The responses collected returned a rich and stimulating cross-section: on the one hand, awareness of the still untapped potential of cycling tourism, and on the other, the desire of citizens and professionals to imagine more efficient, integrated and attractive networks and services.
These results confirm how much room there is to transform bicycle mobility into a real driver of territorial development, capable of generating value for local communities, businesses and visitors.
In addition to the content, the day was a valuable opportunity to meet. A time to build new connections, explore synergies and lay the groundwork for future collaborations that will make the SUMMA project even more solid and meaningful.
The road to more sustainable mobility is long, of course, but it is a road we are already traveling together. And each pedaling, each discussion, each shared idea brings us a little closer to a more connected, livable and innovative territory.
