ISIG at the World Forum for Democracy in Strasbourg with EDURES

From Friuli Venezia Giulia to Strasbourg

ISIG participated in the World Forum for Democracy 2025 by presenting EDURES, the tool designed by the Council of Europe with the Institute’s scientific support to strengthen the resilience of educational communities and ensure inclusive and quality education even during emergencies and crises. The Forum, which brings together experts, policy makers and representatives of Council of Europe member states each year, provided an ideal international stage to share the work developed over the past few years in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The project was piloted for the first time in Europe in the region itself, involving the communities of Tolmezzo and Cividale del Friuli in a two-year research, evaluation and co-design process. During this period, ISIG worked with teachers, students, school leaders, civil defense volunteers and institutions to identify specific needs, strengthen the operational capacities of the territories and develop concrete strategies to ensure educational continuity in crisis situations. The work was made possible thanks to the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the collaboration of the Education Department of the Council of Europe.

A European model for new collaborations

The presentation in Strasbourg was a significant moment for the Institute: sharing the results of such an articulated journey before an international audience gave visibility to the commitment of the regional educational community and the value of the model tested, helping to position Friuli Venezia Giulia and the EDURES project as references for building more resilient and inclusive educational systems.
Participation in the Forum is not only a milestone, but also a starting point: ISIG will continue the work begun, with the aim of developing new collaborations and accompanying the extension of the EDURES model to other European territories.
