Description: The project emphasizes how racist symbols and images negatively affect social actors throughout the European community; it aims to develop a common culture of stigmatizing racism and promote a proactive role in countering racism, xenophobia and related forms of intolerance. To increase the impact of activities, the project focuses on key actors such as the police, the judiciary and civil society organizations.
The joint approach pursued by the partnership is based on a scientific analysis of local manifestations, hidden symbols of racism and their social perception, provides those in key roles with a toolkit to improve their ability to recognize the negative values of socially discriminatory behavior and to properly combat it. A consultation of experts in the field assesses the replicability of the tools and products and verifies that the project activities respond effectively to situations of discrimination.
As part of the overall project, ISIG curates the quantitative research on symbols and languages of racism in the partners’ countries and prepares the final research report for the qualitative (case studies) and quantitative parts.
