Content: Review of the state and policies for Childhood Development (ECD) in five countries-Armenia, England, Italy, Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Moldova. The specific objectives are: a) to describe, based on some key indicators, the range of current problems concerning the dimensions and determinants of ECD; b) to provide a review of current policies and programs that have an impact on ECD; c) to propose a review of internal and external factors, both positive and negative, that influence the development of policies related to ECD; and d) to identify key actions to promote ECD, with particular attention to the role of the health sector.
The choice of countries under review aims to obtain information for countries belonging to different areas of the WHO European Region.
Despite some limitations, mainly due to incomplete or non-homogeneous data, the results provide some clear analytical and programmatic insights.
