Content: First volume outlining the results of research among Istrian-Dalmatian-Fiuman exiles and their descendants; the present volume refers to the results of fieldwork among exiles at the time displaced inItaly; a subsequent volume deals with those who resumed their lives abroad, in Argentina and Canada. Here the results and analyses based on interviews with members of the refugee community are presented, following a track that leads to an in-depth exploration of the themes of the memory of the exodus, the places of remembrance and everyday life, the language and dialect of childhood, and the identity dispersed and passed on to subsequent generations. The two concluding chapters propose some hypotheses on the design of the future, from the subjective point of view of the exiles and from the structural point of view of the organizations.
