CRISAFE in Zagreb: workshop on cascading risks

On February 26, 2026 in Zagreb, more than 40 professionals gathered to discuss cascading risks and their implications for critical infrastructure. The meeting, organized as part of the CRISAFE project and in cooperation with the Sveučilište u Zagrebu (University of Zagreb) and Infraplan, was attended by institutions, infrastructure managers, emergency responders, and research experts.

Concrete tools and field validation

Operational tools for risk management were presented and validated during the workshop:

  • Analysis of earthquake and extreme precipitation hazards
  • Early warning systems integrated into GIS platforms
  • Visualization of risk scenarios
  • Interactive tools to increase awareness of cascading risks

The discussions were substantive, the questions incisive and the feedback direct, confirming the value of collaboration between institutions and practitioners in the field.

Connecting technical innovation and social resilience

For ISIG, the event represents the institute’s mission: to link technical innovation and social understanding, strengthen cooperation and support communities in turning knowledge into preparedness.

Resilience is built together.
