On November 20, ISIG participated in the 3rd Consortium Meeting of the CRISAFE project, which took place in Delft, the Netherlands. It was an important opportunity to discuss with European partners how to raise awareness of cascading hazard risks and how to more effectively engage citizens in the project’s pilot areas.
During the meeting, our team presented the most recent updates to Work Package 5, a central package for outreach and participation activities. In particular, we outlined:
-
The information and engagement materials developed within Deliverable D5.1;
-
initial evidence from the risk perception survey conducted in the Italian pilot area;
-
the results of the awareness workshop organized in October in cooperation with the final event of the Interreg ITA-SLO IN4SAFETY program and the Civil Defense Fair.
These moments allowed us to share the creative approach we are taking to bring the public closer to risk issues: from interactive crosswords to multilingual questionnaires to dedicated info-points. Different tools, but with a common goal: to make citizens more involved and informed.
The discussion with partners was also helpful in looking ahead and understanding how these experiences can support the upcoming outreach workshops planned in the Netherlands and Croatia.
ISIG will continue to work together with local partners to co-design and implement the next phases of the awareness campaign, thereby contributing to CRISAFE’s goal of improving public access to information on cascading risks and strengthening community preparedness.
