An iconic song from the 1970s states, “It’s a long way to the top if you wanna Rock’n’Roll”! So here we are in Finland for the third leg of the Council of Europe’s Leadership Academy Program! Effective local leadership and active citizen participation in decision-making develop a thriving municipality that attracts residents and businesses! To achieve this goal, the Council of Europe’s Competence Center for Good Governance is supporting Finnish authorities in the implementation of the Leadership Academy Program (LAP). To get to this point, with Finnish partners we had already:
1.Carried out a training program for trainers to improve local training capacities;
2. This was followed by the dissemination of knowledge and skills through two successful LAP training sessions held in May and September 2023. The final third phase of the Leadership Academy Program is now under development. More than 20 professionals from local and regional authorities across the country will be trained to promote practical application in collaboration with stakeholders, with the goal of ensuring that democratic standards are met in the day-to-day operations of the authorities! The Leadership Academy program in Finland is being carried out in cooperation with HAUS – Finnish Institute of Public Management Ltd, as part of a collaborative effort between the Council of Europe and the European Union!
