SAFE-CITIES: AI and the city

A few days ago, the newly passed AI law was the focus of discussion among SAFE-CITIES partners during the second project ethics workshop. The event was organized by ISIG as part of T1.4 – Data, Legal, and Ethics Management.
Among the topics discussed were the presentation of SAFE-CITIES’ ethics and data protection guidelines and tools to ensure ethical compliance and robust data protection within the project, insights on the AI Act, and an interactive session to discuss and identify possible risks related to AI development . The agreement on the SAFE-CITIES action plan on this issue was also a key achievement.
The discussion was enriched by the presence of the independent external experts from the Ethics Advisory Board, who added significant value and perspective to SAFE-CITIES’ reflections.
When dealing with topics such as the security of public spaces, ensuring ethical compliance is critical. That is why the insights and collaboration of all participants in the discussion are crucial to moving forward with the implementation of the SAFE-CITIES project.
