Second EAP FVG 2025 internship: dynamic organizations for more resilient territories

The second in-person meeting of the EAP FVG 2025 course, a training initiative aimed at representatives of local public administrations in Friuli Venezia Giulia, was held in Buttrio (UD) at the Le Fucine hotel.

The internship, entitled “Dynamic Organizations: local smartness and sustainable development,” involved 20 participants from municipalities throughout the region-mayors, aldermen, councilors-in an intensive two-day course on July 18 and 19, 2025.

A focus on tools and skills to address new local challenges

The internship activities focused on four macro-themes designed to strengthen the capacity of local governments to operate in increasingly complex contexts:

  1. Organizational culture and communication
Strategies for building a strong and consistent organizational culture that can support the daily work and identity of the institution were analyzed. Particular attention was given to tools to promote effective communication, both internal and external, as a lever of transparency, cohesion and trust.
  2. Performance and risk management
The module offered operational tools for monitoring administrative performance, assessing results and impacts, and introducing structured risk management approaches, which are essential for dealing with uncertainty and preventing critical issues.
  3. Scenario building
Through innovative and practical methodologies, participants explored how to use scenarios to plan long-term strategies. The goal was to enhance the strategic vision of agencies, improving their ability to anticipate changes and adapt public policies accordingly.
  4. Participation and Involvement for Local Strategies
The fourth theme dealt with techniques for involving citizens in decision-making processes. Strengthening civic participation means making public policies more inclusive, transparent and effective, in line with the principles of participatory democracy.
An ongoing journey toward public innovation

The internship is part of a modular training program that began in recent months with an initial introductory internship and several in-depth online appointments. The program will conclude in September 2025, with a third and final internship dedicated to “Innovation for the Future: Skills for Design.”

In the next event, participants will work on crucial topics such as resilience and disaster risk reduction, international and cross-border cooperation, and participatory design skills to transform ideas and visions into concrete projects that serve local communities.
