PREVENT embraces a holistic ecosystem involving students, families, educators, policy makers, medical professionals, public authorities and communities. With a focus on more than 3.3 million students, we are working on guideline delivery, large-scale implementation, multi-parameter evaluation, and scalability. The project focuses on:
1. Identify barriers that prevent current interventions and policies from scaling up in different settings.
2. Introduce context-aware and multi-actor user engagement interventions and strategies to overcome barriers to scalability.
3. Adapt, test and implement new policies within school communities in three European countries: Greece, Sweden and the region of Catalonia in Spain.
From January 9-10, 2024, we deepened discussions with our consortium partners and had the opportunity to explore the exciting work underway at the Biomedical Research Park in Barcelona and connect with the PREVENT.CAT Community of Practice. Together, we had in-depth conversations about Catalan policies and intervention best practices focused on young population health. Co-creation, active behavioral change, self-assessment through user empowerment, motivational interviewing, social innovation, digitally assisted engagement, health apps, and multi-domain assessment are key elements that drive user acceptability and compatibility with existing policies. Our goal is to enhance sustainability and scalability. Excited to be part of the Cancer Mission project cluster on “Prevention and Early Detection.” Together, we are shaping a healthier future for the next generation.
