Tirana and its Sustainability Plan

Important milestone in Tirana’s sustainable development journey!

We at ISIG are immensely proud to have contributed to a pivotal event in Tirana, Albania, marking a significant step toward sustainable urban development.
In a collaborative effort with the City of Tirana and the Council of Europe, we successfully applied our Toolkit for Civic Participation in Decision-Making in the definition of the Tirana Municipality’s Sustainable Development Strategy for 2023-2027.

Hosted at the offices of the European Youth Capital 2022 in Tirana, the event brought together more than 40 stakeholders, representing Tirana’s diverse community. Their involvement and contribution were essential to the success of the day.

The working group discussions, guided by our toolkit methodology, were enlightening, highlighting the importance of community involvement in urban planning. Special thanks to Vice Mayor Keti Luarasi for her enlightening opening remarks and to Enkelejd Musabelliu for his presentation of strategic goals.

Heartfelt appreciation goes to Geldona Metaj for brilliantly facilitating the group sessions, ensuring productive and meaningful exchanges.
This event is not only a step toward a greener and more sustainable Tirana, but also a testament to the power of participatory decision-making in shaping the future of cities.

We are excited to see how these strategies will develop and contribute to Tirana’s sustainable growth. This is a great example of how collaboration, community involvement, and strategic planning can create change!
