With this research, carried out on behalf of the City of Gorizia and with the contribution of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia*, ISIG investigated, analyzed and monitored the dynamics related to female entrepreneurship in the city of Gorizia, identifying strengths and weaknesses of the existing production fabric, as well as risks and opportunities for its future development.
In addition to providing a comprehensive analysis of the development trajectory of Gorizia’s female entrepreneurial fabric, the project aimed to build, over time, a functional representation of the area for the co-production of sustainable economic development strategies, with a focus on inclusion, women’s empowerment and closing the gender gap.
In this sense, the Agenda was conceived as a tool available to stakeholders, institutional decision makers and the public for further investigation, project and policy making.
Specific questions for detailed analysis
The research questions that guided the analysis were as follows:
- What have been the main transformations in Gorizia’s female entrepreneurial fabric in recent years?
- What are the peculiarities of the development of Gorizia’s female entrepreneurial fabric (types, business model, sectors of specialization, and marginal sectors) in relation to the city’s overall development? And compared to that of the Region and conterminous areas of the Republic of Slovenia?
- How have contextual factors, such as the cultural environment, the educational system, or the cross-border dimension of the area, influenced the development of Gorizia’s female entrepreneurship?
- What is the perception of the significance and impact of measures-direct (contributions) and indirect (services, training)-to support entrepreneurship in general and women’s entrepreneurship in particular in the Gorizia sector?
- What was the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the development of the women’s entrepreneurial fabric, and what were the lessons learned by the protagonists themselves?
