On September 16 and 17, the I-SEAMORE project reached a decisive stage with itsFinal Demo andclosing event, hosted between Troy and Setúbal, Portugal. Two days full of activities, discussion and experimentation, which marked the official closure of a research and innovation journey dedicated to advanced maritime monitoring.
A field demonstration of the system’s potential
On September 16, the final demonstration of the I-SEAMORE system was held at the CEOM base of the Marinha Portuguesa in Troy. It was an opportunity to showcase its capabilities up close, designed to improve the control and management of maritime activities through integrated data, state-of-the-art UAS technologies and automatic anomaly detection capabilities.
Observing the system in action enabled participants to gain a concrete understanding of the value of the solutions developed, providing a clear overview of the potential operational impact in real-world scenarios.
A discussion session with stakeholders
The following day, September 17, during the final event in Setúbal, ISIG had the pleasure of moderating a listening and discussion session with the stakeholders involved.
Significant appreciation emerged from the discussion for several features of the platform, including:
-
The ability to integrate data from multiple sources,
-
The accuracy of information collected by drones (UAS),
-
The effectiveness of anomaly detection systems.
Stakeholders, however, highlighted some issues to consider for future developments, such as the need to increase interoperability with systems already in use and the importance of taking into account existing national regulations.
Prominent among the most recognized benefits are improved situational awareness and faster decision making, key elements for possible operational adoption of the I-SEAMORE system.
Collaboration, dialogue and ethical principles: a direction for the future
These two days confirmed not only the technological value of the project, but also the importance of ongoing dialogue with those who will use these tools. The open and participatory discussion with partners and stakeholders was essential to gather opinions, needs and visions that can guide the next steps.
Special thanks go to all project partners and stakeholders for their collaboration and contributions.
Central to the work done by ISIG has always been a focus on ethical principles and the protection of fundamental rights, aspects that will continue to be an indispensable reference for sustainable and responsible adoption of the technologies developed.
