Content: ISIG conducted a study that provided an overview and assessment of cross-border cooperation among European states in the three geographic areas of Central, Northern and Southeastern Europe; the so-called SWOT methodology was used with the specific parameters proposed by ISIG to assess the extent of cross-border cooperation.

In this volume, the first chapter discusses the methodology of SWOT analysis and the second the theoretical aspects of designing a Euroregion. Addressing these two issues is important for understanding the concepts and terminology used in the third chapter, which carries out a comparison of actual cross-border cooperation in the three macro-areas analyzed.
Next, the most appropriate “strategy” for achieving the best possible cross-border cooperation (removing obstacles, avoiding risks, exploiting opportunities, remedying weaknesses) is identified.
