Content: This issue of ISIG Journal focuses on the areas, societies, and nations located in the Mediterranean basin. The policies and relationships developed in this context represent the future challenges facing the Mediterranean regions (the European Union and the Middle East). Thus, the Mediterranean is becoming an important variable in the European enlargement process.
