Content: Rome is unique because it is sedimentation of many elements accumulated over time, space, semiotics, function, and trajectories of human life. This issue of Futuribili seeks to capture the fusion of the indicated dimensions.
The first approach is led by representatives of the three Rome’s: Cardinal Achille Silvestrini speaks as a representative of the First Rome, Archimandrite Nilos Vatopedinos as a representative of the Second Rome, and Igumen Ioann as a representative of the Third Rome. They discuss the meaning and function of the Third Rome and the importance of dialogue.
The second part of Futuribles , on the other hand, is devoted to the secular idea of the Third Rome: the focus is shifted from Orthodoxy to politics, diplomacy, international relations, and Russia’s internal relations.
The third part observes how the “Third Rome” from a mystical dimension of religious and cultural vision becomes political.
Finally, Moscow-“Third Rome” is connected to Russian society, its civil society and people’s opinions and developed in a projection to the future.
