Language: Italian
Content: The work is a summary, revisited from a toponymy perspective, of the political, economic and social climate that existed in Gorizia between 1948 and 1990, extrapolated from the texts of City Council Resolutions and the acts of the Toponymy Commission. In fact, the history recalled by the names dedicated to the city’s streets and places is intertwined with the events they evoke and the sentiments from which the choices made by the city’s administrators arose. By recounting the street dedications and at the same time revealing a glimpse of Gorizia’s social and political life from the immediate post-World War II period to the last years of the 20th century, the work shows that toponymy can be an interesting and stimulating key to learning more about one’s city.
